Volunteers

Every club runs on volunteers and almost none of them have a decent way to organize it. The usual system is a sign-up sheet at the field, a group message, and one exhausted person remembering who said yes.

How it works

01

Post the job

Attach it to an event, the concession stand at Saturday’s game, or leave it standalone, like a field cleanup day that is not tied to an event.

02

Say how many you need

Set the slots. The job tracks its own state and flips between open and filled as confirmed volunteers come and go.

03

Guardians claim it

Parents see what needs doing and claim a slot from their phone, without emailing anyone to ask whether it is still going.

04

You get told

Signups and withdrawals raise alerts, so a Friday-night cancellation is something you know about rather than something you discover on Saturday morning.

Jobs attached to the event that needs them

A volunteer job can live on a schedule item, which is how most of them actually work, somebody has to run the gate at this game, not in the abstract. The job shows up where the event is, so a parent looking at Saturday sees both what time to arrive and what still needs covering.

Slot accounting that maintains itself

You need three people on the gate. Two have claimed it. The job knows it is still open and stops advertising itself the moment the third confirms. Nobody maintains a tally, and nobody double-books the same slot because two parents replied to the same message thirty seconds apart.

Withdrawals surface early

People drop out; that is normal and not a moral failing. What ruins a Saturday is finding out at the field. Rostered can alert on withdrawals as well as signups, so the gap reappears in the list while there is still time to fill it.

Questions

Do volunteers need their own login?

Guardians already have a Rostered account through their family, and they claim jobs with it. There is no separate volunteer system to administer.

What happens when somebody drops out?

The slot reopens and the job goes back to needing people. Withdrawal alerts mean an administrator hears about it rather than discovering it at the event.

Can we post jobs that are not tied to a game?

Yes. A job can attach to a scheduled event or stand on its own, which covers things like a field cleanup or an equipment audit.

Free for parents and athletes, always. Clubs pick a package sized to their athlete count.
