Youth Sports Software Pricing, Explained
How youth sports software is actually priced, the questions that decide what a club ends up paying, and what Rostered costs, published, flat, and free for parents and athletes.
Youth sports software pricing, explained
Working out what club software costs is harder than it should be, and that is not an accident. Pricing in this category is often quote-based, per-team, per-family, or free at the point of use with the cost recovered somewhere less visible.
This page explains how the pricing models differ, what to ask, and what Rostered charges. We are not going to publish a table of anyone else’s prices, those change, and a competitor’s price list maintained by us would be wrong within a month. Ask them directly, using the questions below.
The models you will run into
Per team. Cheap for one team and unpredictable for a club. The number to work out is not this month’s, it is what happens when you add four teams in August and two more in October.
Per family or per athlete. Scales smoothly, but it is worth being clear about who actually pays. If the cost is passed to families, the real question is what a household with three children ends up paying across a season.
Quote-based. Common for larger platforms. Not inherently bad, but it means you cannot compare without booking a call, and you cannot check whether you are being charged what a comparable club is charged.
Free to the club, funded elsewhere. Somebody is paying. Usually it is families, through advertising shown to them, fees added at registration, or their data. Worth finding out which.
Flat, per club, published. What Rostered does. One price, visible on the website, based on how many athletes you carry.
The questions that decide what you actually pay
- Is the price on the website? If not, ask why, and ask what a club your size pays.
- Who pays, the club or the families? Get the total for a three-child household across a season, not the monthly headline.
- What happens when we add a team mid-season? Ask for the number, not the policy.
- Is there a percentage fee on money we collect? On registration fees, this is frequently the largest line and the least discussed.
- Do parents see advertising? If a product is free to a parent and monetises them anyway, it is worth knowing how.
- Is user data sold or shared? Ask it plainly. The answer should be one word.
- Can we export our data and leave? Without a support ticket, without a delay, without a fee.
- Is there a contract and a notice period?
- What is not included? The feature that turns out to be on a higher tier is the classic surprise.

Carrying more than 250 athletes? Talk to us and we will sort it out.
What is not in the price, because it is free
- Parents and athletes never pay. Not a reduced rate, nothing, always.
- No advertising is shown to families. Ever.
- We do not sell user data. Not to brokers, not to advertisers, not to anyone.
The rest of the answer
- No contract. Cancel yourself, from inside the product.
- Export your data whenever you want. It is your club’s data; we are holding it, not keeping it.
- Pricing is sorted out when you create your first club: not before you are allowed to look at the product.
What you get for it
